Some Examples of Past Customer Snare Builds

To the right are some examples of snare drums built for customers. Every snare we build is layed out with machinist precision. Most lugs are counter-bored, not just "through drilled", to provide maximum support so the lug screws stay tight. Other builders often drill oversized holes to account for a lack of precision in the layout and then expect the lug screw washer to take up the slack.

Stainless steel socket cap screws are used exclusively. Other builders often use mix-matched hardware of different color and head types. Our goal to use the best obtainable hardware and materials. Cheesy looking hardware that doesn't stay tight doesn't belong on your drum.

Each drum is labeled with a logical serial number, shell type, and finish information. This steam-bent olive ash snare is a nice example.

Bubinga in High Gloss Polyester..

This 6" x 13" bubinga stave snare features 24k gold-plated hardware. The finish is high gloss polyester - the hardest finish available with superior lustre. Bearing edges are 45 degree with the top edge rounded over slightly.

Vintage Style Solid Maple Piccolo..

This snare is steam bent from a single piece of maple. Measuring in at 4.5" x 14", This drum has single-flange hoops and custom machined tube lugs. As with all Bowie Custom Drums, this drum has stainless steel socket cap screws for all hardware attachment. There are no shortcuts taken when building your drum. This is a very sensitive and articulate drum.

Black Glass Glitter..

This snare is a 10-ply maple drum with black glass glitter wrap. Measuring in at 6.5" x 13", This drum has a Trick multi-step strainer and classic tube lugs.

Quilted Maple with Offset Lugs..

Veneered in quilted maple, this 10-ply maple drum measures in at 6" x 14", This drum has triple-flange hoops and offset teardrop lugs. This snare has Trick GS007 multi-step strainer; the finest in the industry.. All tension rods except single flange get the captive nylon bushing. Ours don't fall off when you change heads!

Blue Pearl Piccolo..

In a stunning blue pearl, This 10-ply maple drum measures in at 3.5" x 13", This drum has triple-flange hoops and tube lugs. A bright and quick response from this one.

Fiddleback Makore in Deep Green..

This 10-ply maple drum is veneered in exotic fiddleback makore and stained a deep green to bring out the amazing figure. The shell measures in at 6.5"x 13" and is equipped with a Trick GS007 strainer and tube lugs.The 13" tends to be a little higher pitched than the 14"..

Carbon Fiber with Quick Release Lugs..
